gotta get going

Phew. Kids are in school. So, that gives me lots of time to burn things...except that now I have a blog.

OK. Here goes.

I had the best time at Art Unraveled this summer. I took classes from Melissa Manly, Cherie Lenert and Susan Lenert  Kasmer, Richard Salley and Keith LoBue who all filled in some holes in my metalworking. Michael DeMeng taunted me with visions of Oaxaca, Mexico and proved his class is still "unpredictable". I also took what seemed like a "break in the action" drawing class from Carla Sonheim, but, it has turned into a compulsion to draw every second I am sitting down. Love IT! We did manage to drag a bunch of fool hardy people out to The Buffalo Chip Saloon the first Friday of AU for a good redneck BBQ and a couple sessions of bull riding. I think they have all been scarred for life, even though they swear they had a blast.

Cave Creek (my silly little town) is ramping up for the snowbirds annual return. Thieves Market will start back up in September. It is a great place to find ephemera. I think I am going to clean out my art room and sell it all there. Specials on scrapbook paper...
I know you non-desert people think it is almost fall, dreaming of little colored leaves...it is hard not to be affected by the weather here in Arizona, usually because it is usually a life or death situation. My birds, dogs and horses are HOT. Water falling from the sky is everyone's obsession, usually, the fabulous sunsets are our only consolation. It's like waiting for a baby...you know it is coming, you just never know when! It is a sure thing that the day after we stuff all the kids into their Halloween costumes so they can go around and collect melted chocolate bars, the weather will break and you will all want to come visit.

So, that's what I'm doing. I have a new kiln, so I consider myself armed and dangerous. Stay tuned, as soon as I figure this out, I'll get some stuff up. In the meantime...www.ellenalsever.com
